IPSW Nepal sits at the intersection of academic rigour, applied practice and community partnership. We train practitioner-scholars who can hold complexity — clinically, ethically and politically.
Our purpose
Mission, vision and the work between them.
Mission
To prepare ethically grounded, research-informed psychologists and social workers whose practice strengthens Nepali communities and public services.
Vision
A Nepal where every person has access to dignified, evidence-informed psychosocial care — delivered by practitioners trained close to the communities they serve.

IPSW Nepal began in 2013 as a small counselling skills programme in Lalitpur. Today, it is a full institute offering undergraduate, postgraduate and continuing education routes — affiliated with leading Nepali universities.

These commitments inform admissions, curriculum, supervision and our partnerships.
Rooted in Nepali contexts
Every module, case study and field placement is grounded in the realities of communities across Nepal — from urban Lalitpur to rural Karnali.
Ethical, supervised practice
All clinical and field hours are completed under licensed supervisors. Reflective practice and ethics are non-negotiable.
Research that translates
We publish peer-reviewed research, but also produce policy briefs and community-facing tools — so knowledge moves.
Small cohorts, deep mentorship
Our cohorts are intentionally small. Faculty know students by name and follow them into supervision and beyond.
Spacesbuiltforthinking,listeningandpractising.
Our Lalitpur campus is small by design — but every room is shaped around how psychology and social work actually get learned.
Counselling Skills Lab
Two-way mirror rooms with audio-recording for live supervised practice and reflective debriefs.
Research Commons
Open-plan research space with statistical software, qualitative coding suites and a small reading room.
Community Practice Studio
Flexible studio for participatory workshops, art-based therapy modules and partner co-design sessions.
